On May 1, 2025, I am releasing a song called "Typewriter". I wrote this song about the concept that once you write something with a typewriter, you cannot correct it unless you start again with a blank page. I then connected this to people who use empty words to make excuses. By the end of the song, I come to the realization that some actions are unforgivable, and outline the necessity to move on.
“Typewriter” is a demonstration of my commitment to building immersive musical stories through introspective lyrics, and rich sonic texture. The song was produced by Juno Nominated Producer, Christopher Crerar, at the historic Metalworks Studios. It features lush live saxophone, piano, bass and drums. Most notably, this song includes clicks from a working typewriter that once belonged to my grandfather, offering a sentimental touch.

Hello, my name is Julia Frances, and I am a 20-year old singer-songwriter, TEDx Speaker and entrepreneur from Toronto, Canada. I am an avid songwriter with a deep appreciation for lyricism, musical theatre, and placing the emotional journey at the forefront of my work. To date, I have written over 200 songs. Writing is my greatest passion and guiding force.
My songwriting journey began rather unconventionally. I wrote my first song in a finance lecture two years ago. Up until that point and for most of my childhood, I was a flute player and I was involved in groups like the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra. From there, I developed a great appreciation for musical theatre, and taught myself how to sing at 15 years old. Now, I play the flute, piano and guitar. I see writing as the cumulation of all my musical ideas and past influences.
Aside from writing, I have a affinity for entrepreneurship and innovation. I started my first company at 14 years old, called Moof Goop. Recently, I gave a TEDx Talk about how I see business and songwriting converge in my life.
I released my first single "Christmas in the City" on December 15, 2024. Then, I released a voice memo called "a love like you." My song "Typewriter" now marks the lead single of my upcoming EP.
